On Monday, November 10 the Dean announced the appointment of Canon Martin Green as the next Canon Musician and Director of Music of the Cathedral of the Incarnation, effective February 2026.
Canon Green comes to us from St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in San Diego, California, where he has served with distinction for more than twenty-six years as Canon for Music. A nationally acclaimed choral conductor, vocalist, and organist, he has been a leading figure in the San Diego musical community and an enduring voice in the Anglican choral tradition.
Martin will be joined in Garden City by his wife, Molly, a classical ballet teacher who shares his passion for arts education, and their two children, Charles and Iris, both enthusiastic young choristers and musicians.
While we await Martin's arrival, please click on this link to hear Martin's recent performance of "Outer Hebrides" by Paul Halley (with very capable page-turning by Martin's son Charlie). More of Martin's work with the organ and choirs of St. Paul's can be found on his YouTube channel. Enjoy!
Finally, please join me in extending a warm Cathedral welcome to Canon Martin Green and his family as they prepare to make Long Island their new home. We look forward to the beauty, excellence, and inspiration they will bring to our common life of worship and song.
