We will gather at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, quiet and mostly dark, lit only by the gentle glow of the Museum of the Moon—a luminous replica suspended like a silent blessing in the heart of the sanctuary. The space invites stillness. A moment to pause. To return to our breath, to ourselves, and to God. Chants will rise and echo through old stone—stone that has held generations of prayers. And we will sit together in the beauty of silence, listening deeply.
This will be a time of contemplative prayer and guided meditation. A space to show up just as we are, bringing our fears, our longings, our burdens. We will gather them gently, and place them in God’s care. We come trusting that God is “everything that soothes and helps us,” and that “his tender love is our true shelter” (Julian of Norwich).
Contemplative prayer may seem unfamiliar or intimidating. But truly, it is as simple as friendship. It is “taking time frequently to be alone with the One who we know loves us” (Teresa of Avila). It is speaking honestly, listening quietly, and resting in the arms of Love. No special skills are needed. Just a willingness to be present, to listen, to be held.
In a world so divided, this is one small way we practice resurrection. A way of learning to live from peace, not fear. Contemplative prayer will be gently guided by Ms. Kristin Vieira Coleman and Fr. Adam Bucko, co-founders of the Center for Spiritual Imagination. All are welcome. Please register here.
