Casavant Organ Reinstallation

The Cathedral's Casavant Organ will begin reinstallation on August 22, when a truck full of pipes, organ chests and the renewed console will arrive here. Much of the instrument has been fully renovated over the past 16 months, in a joint collaboration between Casavant Frères in St. Hyacinthe, QC, and Foley Baker Inc., in Tolland, CT. It will take approximately four weeks to complete the work on site here, during which time there will be much pipework and mechanisms for the instrument visible on the Cathedral floor. In the meanwhile, there is renovation work in the organ chamber, gallery, and undercroft happening to improve the physical space for the organ. The completion of this stage of the work will see then entire organ, front and back, playable for the first time in five years. We are excited about the return of our magnificent organ after the first stage of its renovation!
