He put before them another parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.’

Matthew 13:31-32

Stewardship is our intentional response to God for all that we are, and all that we have been freely given. Baptism calls us to share our gifts with the cathedral community and God’s wider world. As Christian stewards, we respond with gratitude and generosity to all that has been given to us through God’s grace.

The 2020 Stewardship effort will help the Cathedral of the Incarnation continue to shine the Light of Christ within our congregation and communities through our time, talent, and treasure.

We invite you to consider the ways you are being called to give your time, talent, and treasure in 2020.

Shining Our Light: Our Time

Our time is a unique gift because only we can give it. As God wants us to be faithful stewards of the time he has given us, we have many opportunities to give of our time to his glory.

Shining Our Light: Our Talent

God has entrusted each of us with unique talent which we can offer in love to our neighbors and the church. We joyfully discover our gifts in community.

Shining Our Light: Our Treasure

We give of our wealth by making a pledge each year. Our financial commitments sustain the cathedral's mission and help our leaders plan for the year to come.

The cathedral's annual budget is 1.5 million dollars which is supported by: 1/3 Congregational Giving
1/3 Cathedral Chapter
1/3 Cathedral Endowments

In 2019, we had 142 stewards making a financial commitment of $2,057 as an average annual pledge. Nationwide, the average annual pledge in The Episcopal Church is $2,800. As you prayerfully discern your commitment in 2020, consider helping us meet our 2020 goal of increasing the number of stewards overall and matching or exceeding the national average.

FAQs

HOW CAN I SEE HOW MUCH I HAVE CONTRIBUTED THIS YEAR?

  • With our new online giving system, you can check your giving at any time, download a tax form, and change your bank information. If you are having trouble logging into Realm, contact the cathedral office.

HOW DO I DECIDE HOW MUCH TO PLEDGE?

  • The annual budget for the Cathedral of the Incarnation is just over 1.4 million dollars. The most important source of income is parishioner giving, as investments and diocesan support are limited. Programmatic growth and community outreach are in the hands of our stewards. Your financial commitment allows the leadership to plan and budget effectively, and to manage with confidence that needs will be met. As you prayerfully discern your commitment, please bear in mind that the average annual pledge in The Episcopal Church is $2,800. The cathedral currently has 136 steward households. In 2019 we must raise $300,000 in support for our mission. Will you become a Steward of the Cathedral and help God’s garden grow?

WHY SHOULD I BECOME A STEWARD INSTEAD OF JUST LEAVING MONEY IN THE COLLECTION PLATE?

  • As Christians, we commit our support to cathedral ministries for the coming year. Our financial commitments sustain the cathedral’s mission and help our leaders expand the positive impact of our worship, programs and initiatives.
