  The Reverend Constance Lorenz, Deacon

The Reverend Constance Lorenz graduated from The George Mercer School of Theology in 1997 and was ordained to the permanent diaconate on June 28, 1997. Deacon Lorenz served at Zion Church in Douglaston, Grace Church in Jamaica, Church of St. Alban the Martyr in St Albans, in addition to her home parish The Church of the Redeemer in Astoria.

On September 15, 2005, Deacon Lorenz joined the staff at the Cathedral of the Incarnation as a part-time Sunday assistant. In addition to the liturgical functions of a deacon performed during the services at the Cathedral, Deacon Connie initiated the Cathedral's Prayer Shawl Ministry. Since October 8, 2006, 18 members of the Cathedral have been participating in this ministry. The mission of this Prayer Shawl Ministry is to create a shawl prayerfully for a recipient. When the shawl is completed it is offered a final prayer before being sent along its way. Care and the love of knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. To date, over 30 shawls have been created, blessed and delivered.

Effective August 1, 2007, Deacon Lorenz was appointed Director of Christian Education, Formation and Youth Ministry at the Cathedral. She will be responsible for the development and implementation of all faith formation programming for the Cathedral community -- Children, Youth, Young Adult, and Adults.
