Cathedral of the Incarnation Rite 13 Youth Retreat Held At Camp deWolfe

Youth and movies go together like popcorn and soda. Add a unifying theme, strong Christian messages, discussion questions, fun activities, and you’ve got a weekend at the movies! And that is exactly what the Cathedral’s Rite 13 Youth group did. On January 17-19, 2009, fifteen members of the Cathedral’s Rite 13 youth group, attended a 3-day Weekend at the Movies held at Camp DeWolfe under the adult leadership of Charlie Janoff, Phyllis Bain, Joan Hughes, Robin Lombardo, Tracey Miller, Kristen Ochtera, Fr. Joseph Pae and Deacon Connie Lorenz.

The theme of this year’s retreat was taken from the Baptismal Covenant, “Will You Persevere In Resisting Evil?” Using Harry Potter and C.S. Lewis, the group examined the idea of choice. They specifically examined the importance of choosing words carefully, and they were also directed to think about the times when we have to choose between right and wrong. The snow did not damper the weekend activities which included taking The Challenge Course at Camp deWolfe. The weekend came to an exciting end with a “Quidditch” game played in the snow. A special Thank You was extended to Kathleen Loomis-Ward, the Director of the Camp, and her staff for their warm hospitality. The youth and the adult leaders look forward to coming back next year to what has become an annual event for the Cathedral Rite 13 Youth.
