Journey to Adulthood "J2A" is a complete youth ministry program of spiritual formation for those in the 7th to 12th grades.
It uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries and both serious and playful activities to nurture the whole person during the passage from childhood to adulthood. J2A engages the youth with the skills and critical thinking involved in adulthood.
The Rite-13 program assists young people as they take the first steps of passage away from their families and into their own lives.
Both J2A and Rite 13 meet once a month. Youth who have successfully completed the J2A program and are sixteen years of age participate in the Rite of Confirmation during the Great Vigil of Easter at the Cathedral of the Incarnation.
Journey to Adulthood/Rite 13 Program registration for those in grades 7 through 11 will be held on Sunday, September 21 after the 9:30 a.m. Family Holy Eucharist. The first gathering of the youth will be Sunday, September 28, at 6:45 p.m. in the Mercer School. The young people will gather twice a month to explore aspects of their lives with particular attention to the relationships they have with family and friends. They will also discern what their responsibilities are to society and to the environment, and, most importantly, the significance of God in their lives. |
